Schools in the Orlando Area

Florida public schools are run by county school districts, and the school a home is zoned for depends on its exact address. Here's how to find a home's zoned schools and see how those schools perform, straight from the official sources.

School districts are by county

Each county has one public school district. A city name or mailing address doesn't always match the county or the zoned schools, so always check the specific address.

Find a home's zoned schools

Don't rely on the schools listed on a listing or real estate website. Those fields are often out of date. Zoning comes from the school district, and zones can change from year to year. Enter the home's address in the district's own school finder.

Districts also offer choices beyond the zoned school, such as magnet programs, charter schools and school choice applications. Each district's website explains its options and deadlines.

School accountability reports

Every year the Florida Department of Education grades each public school from A to F. Grades are based on student achievement and learning gains on statewide tests, plus graduation and acceleration measures for high schools. These reports are the objective way to compare schools.

Florida School Accountability Reports has the current school grades, district grades and learning gains for every public school. Know Your Schools lets you look up a school by city and compare report cards side by side.

The city and community pages on this site list nearby schools with their latest grades, so you can see them alongside the homes.
