The City of Winter Garden publishes its 'Tis the Season schedule each year, and the 2026 version is out. This guide pulls the highlights into a plan you can use. Every date below comes from the City's schedule as of November 1, 2026, and the City notes that the schedule is subject to change, so check its page the week you go. Restaurant and shop hours are set by each business, so this guide names none.

What is the Saturday farmers market like at the holidays?

Saturday morning is the other half of the weekend. The Winter Garden Farmers Market takes place every Saturday year round, from 8 am to 1 pm at the Downtown Pavilion, with more than 100 vendors listed by the City, selling produce, baked goods, artwork, jewelry, home decor, pet supplies, seasonal items and artisan crafts. My Winter Garden Farmers Market guide covers the market in full.

The City calls the market a great place to buy gifts and food items for holiday celebrations, so in December it doubles as shopping. Santa visits the market from 9 am to noon on Saturdays, December 12 and 19, per the City schedule. Dogs and cats are welcome if they stay leashed at all times, and bikes, scooters and skateboards are not allowed inside the market area.

The week after Christmas has its own pace. The market still runs on Saturday, December 26, and the City's 2026 schedule keeps the light show and street performers going on December 26 and 27. The Garden Theatre on Plant lists its $5 Holiday Flix on December 15, 22 and 29, which are ticketed. The City listed no downtown event for Christmas Day itself. That does not prove every shop and restaurant is closed, only that the City is not programming downtown that day, so confirm any specific business with that business before you go.

Sunday is a good day for the in between hours: a walk on the West Orange Trail, which is open during daylight hours, a slow afternoon at home with visiting family, and then downtown again in the evening for the lights.

What is a New Year's Day weekend like?

The first weekend of the year does not need a big plan. It needs a good Saturday. Start with the market, walk downtown, and spend Sunday on a section of the West Orange Trail from Winter Garden Station, finishing back downtown for lunch. If you want a bike, call the rental provider first, because rental shops set their own hours and prices and holiday weeks vary. If you are starting the year with a move to Winter Garden on your mind, this is a simple first weekend to try.

On Light Up night and parade day, West Plant Street closes, so walking is the plan. Wear comfortable shoes, bring a layer for the evening, and expect busy sidewalks after the lighting.
